I can hardly contain my excitement for what I think next year holds for the Christian constitutionalist movement. I believe it will prove to be our biggest year yet. We are witnessing an organic, spontaneous organizing of the remnant in America like never before. The catalyst is the Ron Paul candidacy for president in the Republican Party. There is quite frankly a peaceful “revolution” occurring against the established system. I have often mentioned to CE members and news reporters that routine use of the Internet by virtually all Americans is less than 10 years old, and is a completely unpredictable wild card when considering its impact on the political scene. Well, it’s not a wild card anymore! It is rapidly proving to be the great equalizer transforming everyday Americans into high powered politicos. For example, the Internet enabled “average joes” to raise over $6 million for Ron Paul’s campaign in one 24-hour period without spending a dime on advertising! The implications of that feat should absolutely astound you! Gone are the muzzles on the mouths and the oppressive boots on the necks of the American people.

Let me put this development in perspective for you. Think of the most revolutionary developments to ever change an industry: the printing press for publishing, electricity for lighting, radio for communication, television for advertising, digital for music, computers for the information industry, etc.; the Internet is that revolutionary to the political industry. Things will never be the same in this country after the 2008 campaign because of the demonstration of the power We The People possess with the Internet.

So what does this mean for Christian Exodus? First, it means you can be part of the great awakening for which you’ve prayed so long. Ever wondered, “When are people finally going to wake up and be able to do something about this broken system?” Newsflash: the opportunity is here, the time is now. We need to recognize this fact. We need to get involved NOW! The momentum is building and it need not stop after November of next year.

Second, it means Christian Exodus will grow and is needed now more than ever. Let me be absolutely clear that the “revolution” we’re witnessing in this election cycle will NOT lead to national reform through the federal government. Even if a man like Ron Paul was to win the White House and miraculously avoid assassination by the Establishment, Congress and the Courts would remain as tyrannical as ever. And let’s not forget that politicians don’t control the government anyway; special interests do. Powers far greater than Congressmen and Justices rule the General Government. The road to real reform is through local and State interposition and nullification, and if necessary, independence. Are we to believe that any victories achieved at the national level will be long-lived without a complete overhaul of how our States do business with Washington? Let’s not be so naïve. We need a massive changing of the guard at the county and State levels if anything accomplished in Washington is to stick. And that’s why CE is needed more than ever. We are one of the very few organizations upon the national stage making the argument that the States, the counties and the People must not tolerate Washington’s illegal behavior and must in fact refuse to comply with its unconstitutional directives. Only an attitude of “not in our state, not in our county, not in our schools; we will not obey your illegal orders” will protect our liberties from the tyrannical reach of Washington. So it falls upon our shoulders to get Jefferson’s message of interposition and nullification to as many people awakened by the current electoral “revolution” as possible.

Win or lose, the campaign season will come to an end, and the tens of thousands of activists now engaged by the Ron Paul campaign will need to know what to do next. They’ll be confused by failures and/or ineffectiveness at the federal level, and they need to hear from Jefferson, Madison and Calhoun. Those men gave us the recipe for defending our republic. They wrote about the balance of powers in our federal system and how the States are indispensable defenders of liberty. We must engage these awakened activists and direct them toward organizations promoting interposition and nullification. So here are your marching orders during the 2008 presidential election season should you choose to accept them:

Join your local Ron Paul MeetUp group (www.MeetUp.com) and actually attend the meetings. Start a Christian Exodus MeetUp group for your county and let us know about it so we can put the meetings on our website calendar.

Get involved in the forum discussions on Paul’s websites. (e.g. www.ronpaulforums.com). Educate readers about what can be done locally after the national campaigns come to an end. Teach them about the history and legality of interposition and nullification. Direct libertarians to the Free State Project (www.freestateproject.org), direct liberal secessionists to the Second Vermont Republic (www.vermontrepublic.org), and direct Christian constitutionalists to Christian Exodus.

Make a video promoting interposition and nullification as the solution at the local and State levels; maybe a slideshow with historical documents and quotes and featuring Jefferson, Madison and Calhoun, and upload it to YouTube. Tag it with “Ron Paul” so people searching for their videos will find yours. Promote the video via the forums and via email.

An Opinion Research Corporation poll in October 2006 found that 71% of Americans agree with the statement that “our system of government is broken and cannot be fixed.”1 Therefore, the focus of our promotional efforts this coming year must be to seek out these 71%, many of whom are now a part of the Ron Paul revolution, and make them aware of our efforts. Don’t let this opportunity escape. Get involved now as the peaceful “revolution” you’ve been yearning for is getting underway!
